Boutique Bakery, Pastry and Coffee Lounge Renovation

Anchoring a pivotal corner in a revitalized multi-tenant building, Yellow Dog Bread Co became both a beginning and a beacon. As the first tenant, it set the tone for individuality within a shared framework—environments shaped by craft, light, and connection between exterior and interior materials. Acting as Lead Project Manager / Designer at New City Design Group, each element grew from close collaboration—guided by the client’s inspiration boards, planning studies, and 3D models. 

Inside, Shaker-style millwork meets the warmth of mahogany and honest construction. The handcrafted mahogany storefront replaces standard aluminum, extending the design’s material story across the threshold. A visit to a working bakery informed the design’s rhythm and flow, grounding concept in daily practice. More than a renovation, Yellow Dog became a catalyst—reviving Person Street and reenergizing Mordecai and Historic Oakwood, while exceeding the client’s vision and strengthening a lasting partnership.
